Sometimes you have those pieces, and no matter how much you work on them, what you do to them, and how often you keep changing them, even after uploading, you just are not that happy with them. Some might be acceptable to you but most of the time, these pieces leave you a kind of bitter sweet after taste and uploading them feels more like a relief, more like a way to finally get rid of them than anything else.
But rarely, you get this feeling how even the very first line you draw, the quick sketch or random idea doodle becomes so good, you love it so much that you already feel so attached to the piece and you just know that everything that will follow will be a pure pleasure to do and that this piece will keep you happy until the very end and uploading it becomes more a matter of pride, pride in your work and sharing it actually makes you happy.
I'm currently working on a piece like that. For my next work I started a super fast doodle, an approximation of how I wanted the final result to look like, a composition sketch if you will. After just one simple quick doodle session I am already in love with this piece and I know that it can ONLY get better and better! In light of this recent blast of artistic inspiration I felt like sharing a couple of my own pieces that did this exact same thing already once before (and there aren't many). Art that from the second that pen dropped, I loved it already and working on them was a joy from the very first second, right down to the very last.
Show me a piece from YOU that gave you this exact same feeling! I'm really curious to see some of the works you did that you loved working on from beginning to end and that you are STILL proud of!
What started as a quick doodle quickly became a MUST finish piece because it looked way to good to stay a simple doodle.
An idea I thought was too good not to draw turned out EXACTLY how I saw it in my head, and we all know that barely ever happens.
A dream collaboration with Louivi turned out even better than I had hoped, once I did that outline I was so proud already, then, when she added the colours, that was it, I died a little of happiness.
My love for whales, video games and funny crap prompted me into doing this, I tried finding as many whales as I could from all kinds of video games, asked around, did some research, and apart from having to leave out a couple due to lack of space, this work is still my favourite out of everything I have ever done, this piece is 100% me and every single whale was a bliss to work on and this piece still makes me smile to this day.

I miss doing le art!
Hey everyone!
I hope all of you are doing well, I miss you all, so much, and I'm missing Deviantart more by the day.
Lately I'm keeping myself very busy with a lot of thingsn, including playing guitar, and some other projects, sadly none of those are digital art related. I simply don't have a tablet to draw with yet, but I'm yearning for it, I'm craving it, so you can be sure I'll be back making art again before you know it!
I've been going through some of my digital art lately in my gallery, and I keep thinking I made some things I am still so proud of, and I want to make more pieces like that! And I thought about all the friends I made on
Dying in reverse
Didn't I use that title already before? I don't even know any more, it feels like every time I write a new journal entry it is just to apologize for my absence, but I felt some life updates were in order.
Three months ago my ex broke up with me, it was really rough for about two weeks, like, really rough, but survival mode kicked in pretty fast. Once I analysed our relationship myself from the outside, it became very clear it was the obvious thing to do, and if she hadn't, I probably would have broken it off in time myself. We remain friends for sure, and we parted ways in very good terms.
In that time I actually met someone else, someone w
ValaSedai opened up her Scenery Commissions!
Hey everyone!
Valasedai has opened up her Scenery Commissions, something pretty rare, so now is your chance if you were looking to get something high quality made!
Unfortunately it is not in happy light, we've recently had a some bad news, the bottomline is that we'll be missing hundreds of dollars for the next few months because of some minor statistics that have been working against us when it comes to our social aid and health insurance.
You'd be helping us out just by sharing her commissions already!
Cryptid-Creations has uploaded 370 new pieces!
That's it, that's how I can always tell how much I have forsaken dA. It's been a year since my last journal, I haven't logged on in 370 days, I have cut my hair in the mean time, off, all of it, for work related reasons, don't worry, it'll grow back, Ihad one of the best years of my life, Nintendo freaking released a new video game console!! People have favourited some of my art and send me pms, people that don't even have active accounts anymore. Someone I was watching deleted their account as well, so much movement. I just miss talking to my friends on here, watching people evolve through their art.
But all in all, sometimes we have choice

Oh man I wrote the longest comment and then lost the browser tab it was in. >-> AGAIN....
I know the feeling. I stubbornly end up finishing pieces that don't have that special feeling, and they'll all be out-loved by even the quickies that did have it from the start. It's good mileage to finish things and try to fix them up along the way, but I could definitely learn from it and try to find out what makes them lack, and fix it.
I also suffer from losing a lot of the dynamic energy from a sketch when I do the lineart and polish, while rough pieces still have it. That's something I'll get better at preserving though I'm sure.
I'm extra fond of this one despite it being a quick PS filtered mess hehe, I want to be able to do work faster and still like it, but it's a hit and miss currently.
Anyway, I see why you really like those pieces! The MM still has the energy of a great sketch, and a great background colour choice etc. And I'm honoured you feel that way about our Splatoon piece, I'm not satisfied with my part (I never am lol) but it being a collab with a friend and a change of pace makes me like it more. I remember seeing the lineart and feeling that you did an exceptionally good job just for me to live up to. xD No pressure!! Did my best effort to match which also makes me like it more.
Oh and the whales. I love whales and video games. <3
